BOLIVIA, Potosí, cob 8 reales Royal (galano), 1670 E, NGC VF details / holed, ex-Jones (Plate Coin). S-P37b; KM-R26; Cal-666. 26.70 grams. Broad flan with full legends, choice cross side with full and well-centered details matching Lázaro 184 (that side only, rated R2), the pillars side also nice but doubled on the left side, richly toned and attractive (in fact more like XF in our opinion), holed at top of cross / left of pillars. Pedigreed to the Dr. Peter Jones collection (stated on label, Sedwick Auction 28, with original lot-tag 599), plated on pages 141 and 177 of his book The First Coins of the Americas (2020), and to Sedwick Auction 10, with original lot-tag 782.
